In a bid to reconcile art and everyday life, Erwin Wurm uses ordinary objects that he modifies or distorts before reintroducing them into their habitual environment. Each of his sculptures is the result of a conceptual twist that relies on absurdity and shifts in meaning to challenge the commonly accepted rationale of usage and materials.
Following this approach, Truck is a seemingly banal vehicle, had it not been curiously bent by the artist. It is left up to viewers to imagine how the truck managed to negotiate this impossible trajectory. Wurm’s humorous interventions conflates art and reality, which is here seen through the looking-glass of fantasy.
